Information Security Trends to Watch in 2018

Last year, the credit reporting agency Equifax revealed that hackers stole the information of nearly every U.S. adult. In the first week of 2018, Intel reported that two vulnerabilities, known as Meltdown and Spectre, could impact almost any device using an Intel or AMD chip, which accounts for almost every modern consumer and enterprise piece of hardware.
Today, many corporations use cloud technology to store data and promote collaboration between teams. This technology may be hard to breach, but it's not impossible for dedicated hackers. Additionally, bring your own device policies create numerous entrance points for malicious users. For example, if an employee downloads a smartphone game containing malware, and then connects to a company server, he or she risks spreading the vulnerability to sensitive files.
These days, it's not a question of if a business will get breached, but when. In 2017, the majority of enterprises faced some level of information security threat, and that's a trend that isn't going anywhere in 2018.
