Managed Services for Big Data Development and Cloud Migration Project
Challenge
Our client, a Fortune 5 organization, was unhappy with an integration partner due to several missed deliverables on a highly visible, regulatory-driven program. Because of missed deliverables, our client incurred monetary penalties. They recognized they needed a new managed services supplier to complete the remaining work products, including, but not limited to, application migration, data flattening, a data push to the latest cloud solution (Azure and Google Cloud), and the development of a repeatable model to be used across the enterprise.
Solution
Beacon Hill Technologies developed a project plan to complete the remaining work products. Throughout the project’s phases, we deployed more than thirty resources, including teams of cloud migration architects, application developers (.NET, Java, COBOL), data stewards, and data governance architects. In addition to the original scope of work, our engagement manager identified gaps around domain expertise within our client’s internal staff. We partnered with them to successfully develop a resource plan to deploy right-to-hire resources in an additional project phase.
Achievements
We provide quality resource teams and work products at a cost savings that has helped our client recoup some of the costs associated with the fines and penalties. This ongoing project is scheduled to deliver on time. They have also partnered with Beacon Hill Technologies on a post-project human capital management plan to build successful, long-term internal client teams.
In alignment with Enterprise goals and strategy for 2019-2021, I was tasked with spinning up an Enterprise Data Quality team to ensure business teams have full faith and traceability in our Enterprise Data Platform. After exhausting planning and scope alignment, I had to pull functional and engineering resources together quite quickly, and they had to be day-one heavy hitters. Kayla and the team were able to react to my requirements quickly with the right skillsets needed and removed an exhaustive internal search impediment to my timelines.
