BH Financial™ Case Study

New Leadership Seeking a Uniquely Talented Research and Development Finance Director on a Direct Hire Basis

A contingency R&D Finance Director search for a publicly-traded pharmaceutical company. The client had not had a leader in this role before and it was a crucial hire given the complexity of the R&D function. The client was looking for someone from a pharmaceutical company with a drug on the market and recent product launch experience.

Challenge

This publicly traded pharmaceutical company faced a significant challenge in finding a research and development (R&D) finance director with unique skills. The ideal candidate needed to have experience in the pharmaceutical industry and be familiar with the intricacies of a commercial product launch. This combination of industry-specific expertise and knowledge of commercial product launches made the search particularly challenging.

In addition to the unique candidate profile, the search was originally initiated by a new leader who was still trying to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the finance team.

Solution

Beacon Hill Financial was selected as a partner to understand our client’s vision and launch the search. We identified several quality candidates and presented the best fits to our client. Those finalists then met with business partners on our client’s R&D team for final selection.

Achievements

Our client’s chief financial officer (CFO) and vice president (VP) of finance were happy with the caliber of all the candidates we presented, and a selection was made. We established a great relationship with our client’s new leadership and are currently helping to find a finance director for their commercial business unit.
