Transparency and Consulting Services Lead to Change in Hiring Scope
Challenge
For most of 2021 and part of 2022, this private equity, next-generation investment firm diligently searched for an executive assistant for the company’s chief financial officer (CFO). They had worked with fifteen different suppliers without any luck. They felt the suppliers’ responses and feedback were lackluster at best, which showed in drawn-out presentation processes, as well as in the poor quality of the candidates they presented.
This firm aimed to onboard someone for a short-term contract of ninety days with the option to convert them to an internal, full-time equivalent (FTE).
Longevity at a financial firm was paramount, as was onboarding a truly senior-level executive assistant with experience supporting C-suite-level roles. This person also needed to understand how to work in a virtual environment. Soft skills and a welcoming personality were vital to establishing trust and building a long-term relationship with the CFO.

Solution
Within twenty-four to forty-eight hours, our team identified and presented seven top-level candidates to our client, who shortlisted five candidates for them to interview within the following two days. As a true partner, we provided complete transparency to all parties, and our client understood that their two finalists had received competing offers.
As the liaison between our client and the two finalists, we acted as a consulting partner to help our client put together a competitive offer for their top pick. While our client originally wanted the position to be on a contract basis with the option to convert to an FTE after ninety days, they understood that their number one pick aimed to move into a permanent position. With our guidance, our client changed the position to direct hire, and our candidate quickly accepted the offer.
